Wedding Movitational Monday: Communication!

How many times have you heard "don't go to bed mad" and "be slow to anger"?  Yeah well, good luck with those two statements.  Now let me give my disclaimer -  I am not a professional counselor, psychologist, etc.  All views and opinions in this post are my own and are based solely on my life experiences.

Although I am no relationship expert I do consider myself an expert in love and romance.  One thing I do know is that where there is NO communication, please believe that love romance are soon to follow.

The "Lees"

If you're in a relationship, you know that conflict is virtually inevitable.  However, conflict isn’t a problem; how it’s handled can bring people together or tear them apart.  Poor communication can kill a good relationhp with disagreements and misunderstandings being a source of anger and distance.  Since we know that conflicts can occur, next time you’re dealing with it, keep these tips on effective communication skills in mind and you can create a more positive outcome.

  • Focus: If the discussion is about what happened TODAY; do not bring up what happened last year, last month, last week or even last night.  This does nothing but cloud the current issue with more garbage.. and making the following steps even more difficult.
  • Listen: If you're only silent until the other person pauses, you're not listening effectively! No interruption, no being defensive; hear and reflect will go a long way.
  • See Both Sides: Everyone wants to be heard and understood.  As much as you believe it; you're not always right!
  • Own Whats Yours:  Realize that personal responsibility is a strength, not a weakness.
  • Compromise: Look for resolve. It's not about winning or losing. Try to find a place where both partners can if nothing else, agree to disagree!
The "Olsons"

After it's all been said and done - we are going to disagree.  Marriage and relationships are work!! Be determined to live in PEACE!  Don't be a doormat but don't be so eager to argue and fight.  Good communication can resolve a lot of the surface issues we have in our relationships.

Fun Friday Finds: Late Night Snacks

How many times have you eaten at the reception around 6pm then hungry by the time it ends?  Couples are choosing to have the wedding receptions be more like parties then a formal affair.  So, if you have your DJ spinning until the wee hours you'll probably need to provide a snack to the remaining guests.

What does this mean as far as planning?  It's simple - it means another element for the food service phase.  In addition to cocktail hour and dinner, you should plan to have a great late snack to offer your guests.  Although your 85 year Aunt may not stay, you can almost be sure that your college friends will.  To be on the safe side, anticipate less than half will hang around for the House Music (my favorite music.. haha)

If you're wondering what to serve, less is more!  Keep it casual and along the lines of the type of food you'd get when you leave the bar at 2am. Here are a few fun ideas to consider when going through your planning process!

Wedding Wednesday: ZoyaModa Atelier!!

Recently I posted a question of the day on Facebook regarding wedding dresses and tattoos. Is it appropriate for the bride to show her tattoo while in her wedding dress?  Some people, especially guys though it to be less classy and should be covered up; while others felt the tattoos exemplified who the bride was and shouldn't be covered.  In my opinion, as a pro-tattooer, it's completely up to the couple and very important for the bride to feel comfortable on her day.  Another respondent offered a more professional opinion.... meet Zoya Nudelman

Like the collections she designs, Zoya Nudelman, the co-founder and chief designer of ZoyaModa Atelier, is graceful, sophisticated, and exquisite. Currently residing in Chicago, IL, Zoya was born in Kishinev, Moldova. She came to the US when she was younger with a dream; to one day make every woman look and feel like a Queen.

All of ZoyaModa Atelier Gowns are designed with bride’s great personality in mind. When Zoya works with her clients, she works closely with each Bride to develop a beautiful design that will start from a sketch and lead to a beautifully constructed gown.

Whether it is a large scale wedding, a smaller wedding in the park or at the beach, or even a nice restaurant style event, we have your special dress in mind and we will help you feel like the Special Bride you always wished you can be.

"Most of my Brides find great comfort and relaxing feelings about their wedding when we produce a beautiful Gown together that the Bride can transform herself all throughout the day. I call these dresses, Convertible Gowns." ~ Zoya Nudelman

No more waiting for 9 months for your dress to be ordered… No more receiving your dress in the wrong size… No more paying up to $1000 on your alterations and your train bustle… No more stress… With ZoyaModa, you are in good hands.

For new Designs and Promotions, Please feel free to visit their website at www.zoyamoda.com and Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/ZoyaModaAtelier.

Wedding Motivational Monday

Maricel Cruz Photography
Being in love is a beautiful thing!  One of the first decisions any couple will need to make is whether or not to write their own vows, or us a traditional or pre-written one.  Your wedding/marriage vows are a promise made during the wedding ceremony.  Whether you choose to write your own or go the traditional route; know and understand that your wedding vows actually mean something.

An intetral part of the ceremony, reciting vows is a very romantic moment and usually the perfect place to express your feelings towards your fiance.

Be sure that you're on the same page with your fiance!  If he isnt on board, going the traditional route may be best.  Now that you two agree and youve gotten permission from your minister, think about a single greatest thing about the person you're about to marry.  When did you know you were in love,? What does marriage means to you? What changes will occur after marriage and what will stay the same? What are some of your favorite memories and finally when you were little, did you dream of your future spouce? If so, how does that tht vision compare to your future spouse?

Whatever you decide - dont take your vows lightly. Make sure they are meaningful to you and can be the anchor to binds you two together... Flaws and All!

Favorite Friday Finds: "Who let the dogs out" ~ Including your pets in your wedding

Pets are considered family; should they be incoporated in your wedding day?  Here is my view on it. If it is a well behaved dog, why not? It would look so cute and can pose for pictures that will mean so much to you long after your furry friend is gone. If it is a crazy, yippy, not really potty trained dog, I say leave it at home. Nobody likes that and you certainly dont want annoyed guests. Why go through the embarrassment?

Also, you've got to think about who will be watching the dog Will the dog stay at the party the whole time? Who will pick up the mess if the dog poos? Certainly not you (haha). Furthermore, I'm not too sure that the people who care about you enough to watch the dog will appreciate playing dog sitter instead of enjoying the day.

Although Simply Perfect Peace offers "Event Care",  your dog isn't part of the package but we'd sure help find some fabulous dog walkers if this is your preference! ~ Love Without End

Your Grand EXIT! Driving Away Into Happily Ever After

Sparklers Online
How do you let your guests know that your reception is coming to an end without having the DJ say "Last Call" as if you're at a club?  Even worse, imagine your designer beginning the remove the centerpieces as your guests slowly grab their belongings!  You're probably thinking, "there just has to be a better way?"  Although many couples are choosing to stay until the very end of their reception, I was pleasantly suprised when one of my brides happily received my idea of having a GRAND exit to gracefully announce the reception was winding down.

Your own imagination is your only limitation when considering how to make this grand exit happen.  Wedding Streamers, Sparklers and even Fire Works are all exciting ways to say "it's been fun, good night".  Now, add driving away into your Happily Ever After as a cool way to personalize this experience for you and your groom.  From Limo's to Bentley's to a horse and carriage OR even a motorcycle; the style options are endless!!

Wedding Motivational Monday...

Being in the business of love and marriage affords me the opportunity to meet the most wonderful families.  This past weekend a mother of the bride asked me what "advice" I had for her daughter.  I sincerely believe that if I carry peace within myself that same peace can, will and should be passed on to others.  That being said, I consider myself more than a "coordinator" but someone that has the responsibility of imparting "Simply Perfect Peace" into others...

Without going into all of the personal things I said to this young bride, the motto and goal of  SPPE is to create and maintain peaceful weddings and events.. right?! CORRECT, well what better advice to offer!  Create peace in your home and work daily to maintain it. "This is your soulmate. Once you’re married, you have to know this is the one God chose for you."

Spring Flair: Color Blocking

Martha Stewart Weddings
Do you LOVE color? Are you a bride that isn't afraid of mixing and matching different palettes together to create a unique look? If so, COLOR BLOCKING may be for you.  One of the hottest trends for 2012, it's a fun way to play with an array of vibrant, eye-catching palettes.   The contrast of two or more blocks of color ranging from neutrals to neons is what makes this such a fresh trend.

Color Blocking isn't limited to just weddings; from occasions wear of bridesmaids and bouquets, to shoes and accessories, you'll draw plenty of attention with a few color-blocked pieces this season.

For your wedding it does not need to be only one color unless you would like it to be. However, experts say no more than three.  I believe strongly that the wedding concept should be in sync from wedding invitation down to your guest favor and even a fun drink as shown above. ~ Happy Planning
