Your Wedding - Table Linens

Unless you are using gorgeous wood tables or unique pieces of furniture that you want to show off, I can't stress how much floor length table linens will add to the ambiance in a wedding reception OR any special occasion where linen is required (please no plastic).  The extra length is great for many reasons:
  • adds drama
  • hides unattractive metal table legs
  • fills space with something elegant where you would otherwise see the floor
  • gives a more clean, finished and thought-out look
  • adds visual weight to the lower half of the table  {This is important. We spend so much time figuring out what the table-top will look like that it's easy to forget to visually balance the second half of the table. With a floor length linen, the fabric, which has a strong visual weight, is "supporting" your display up top and creates a more consistent statement.}
As seen in window drapes; another option is to order an even larger table linen, which creates "pools" of fabric on the floor.  This too adds drama and can be very elegant when the right fabric is used in the right situation.  For example, certain fabrics pool better than others, silk or taffeta is better than cotton, and it will generally look better on hardwood floors, rather than carpeting.

Always test your table design plan beforehand so you know what to expect on your wedding day!  Your linen provider and/or planner should be happy to help you do this.

Chicago's First JW Marriott!!!

A lot of things happen during March!  We lose an hour of sleep, we give us something for Lent, flowers start to bud, we celebrate MY birthday (and a few other special people) and on March 7, 2011, I had the honor of celebrating the Grand Opening of Chicago's first JW Marriott. 

JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts celebrated the grand opening of its first Chicago hotel with a landmark event hosted by Chairman and CEO, J.W. Marriott, Jr.  The grand opening event featured exclusive live performances from some of Chicago’s greatest talent including the renowned Joffrey Ballet, Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Emmy Rossum, singer songwriter and star of Showtime’s new Chicago-based series Shameless.”  Additionally, GREY GOOSE® Vodka provides guests with two signature cocktails, the GREY GOOSE® Le Citron Golden Griffin and GREY GOOSE® La Poire Second City Sparkler, inspired by the JW Marriott brand and the Windy City.

Hello March - Daffodil

This month (one of my favorite) we feature the DAFFODILThe meaning of this March Birth Flower, the Jonquil (aka Daffodil or Narcissus) is friendship and domestic happiness A beautifully vibrant flower; the daffodil symbolizes the triumph of love, the innocence, the warmth, the purity, the fragility, the togetherness and the affection that keeps on shining between you and your beloved future husband.  For the wedding to get more meaningful and spiritual you could opt for a white and yellow daffodil wedding bouquet.

Unfortunately not all the brides are aware of the beauty, deep symbolism and freshness offered by this type of flower. In case your wedding is to be held outdoors, the fragrance, the colors and the soft delicacy of a daffodil can lift up the wedding atmosphere and also make it more inviting, appreciated and vibrant.

Your Wedding Stationery - The Program

When considering your stationery suite for your wedding, be sure to keep in mind your color scheme as well as your theme and carry that throughout the entire day.  Just like your invitations, wedding programs are wonderful keepsakes for your guests.  Not only do they bring an exceptional level of detail to your wedding, they fulfill practical needs as well. They show the order of your service and songs, introduce the participants in the wedding, and thank your guests for celebrating with you.

No etiquette book will tell you that you must have a wedding program, but for certain ceremonies they are more necessary than others.
