Relax, Relate, Release...

Planning an event of any kind can be a stressful time...but a WEDDING? Budgets, Flowers, the dress, the caterer, the (ughhhh) GUEST list…. If we can manage to tear ourselves away from the 8th revision of the seating chart for just a moment, we realize that engagement is one of the most significant psychological transitions in our lives, packed with an assortment of tangled emotions and conflicting feelings. Inside the newly engaged woman often lie fear, anxiety, sadness and loss. It is these important internal details, so largely ignored by conventional wedding guides, that an engaged woman must face and confront if she ever hopes to arrive at the altar fully prepared to enter into a healthy marriage.

As one chapter closes, another begins. A chapter of commitment and togetherness. This new stage brings forth feelings of joy and excitement, but fear and uncertainty are also involved.  There is no other time in your life when you are truly giving up one identity for another. The transition is more complex than simply taking a new last name, a literal change of identity and a decision that brings with it its own set of questions and anxieties.

In reality, these thoughts could not be more normal. In every other major life transition, simultaneous feelings of loss and gain are not only expected, but encouraged.

My motto at Simply Perfect Peace Events is that "Peace has to be created in order to be maintained".  If you're wondering how to gather that peace and DE-stress, Cheryl Harris-Owner/Stress-Less Expert of Profound Touch Mobile Spa offers excellent tips on living a Stress-Less life.
  • Meditate: Clear your mind of your to-do list. Take at least 10 minutes in the a.m. and 10 minutes in the p.m. Find a quite space. Let your body lay really heavy on the floor; release any tightness from head to toe and just BE
  • De-Clutter:  Create new space in your mind. Allow room to receive new and fresh ideas.
  • Organize: The Big O! The night before (before meditation), Write down the things that need to be accomplished. Then prioritize your list. This can prevent wandering aimlessly without a plan for your day

Lovie’s Letter Paper Co. is a wedding and stationery design studio, offering standard and personalized options. The company, founded in 2010 by Seleana Luckett, features several lines of budget friendly and ultra premium stationery products. With more than five years in the industry, Luckett has assisted hundreds of brides in choosing the best stationery for their wedding needs.

Name: Sequena Luckett
Business: Lovie's Letter Paper Co.

Your Site Address and/or Blog Address:

How would you describe your style or work: I am a hard worker, going the extra mile to make sure that my customers are satisfied. For brides, in particular, I work to find the perfect wedding invitations within their budget. Additionally, I ensure that each bride has the information she needs to make an informed decision in moving forward and selecting the wedding stationery that fits her unique needs.

Favorite Thing About Your Job? I love working with couples to find the perfect invitations for their wedding. I especially love working with brides, just to see their faces light up when they see the end results.

Magazine/Book Must Have…Martha Stewart Magazine, Simple Stunning Wedding Showers by Karen Bussen, Crane's Blue Book and Get Married Magazine. All these magazines and books will help the modern bride with some great information when it comes to making that special day as beautiful and stress-free as possible.
Guilty Pleasure…Cupcakes: Vanilla with butter cream frosting. Yum!

What Do You Do When You First Wake Up? Oddly enough I turn on my computer. I want to know what's going on in the world.

When It Rains…My mind is usually quiet so I try not to think too much. On rainy days, my soul calms down so I'm just in a peaceful state.

MAC or PC…PC for now because my love is my laptop computer that has been with me for the past 4 years.

What’s on your iPod? All different genre's: Dwele, Frank Sinatra, Jill Scott, Janet Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Nat King Cole, Jason Mraz, Ne-Yo, etc.

One piece of advice for Brides-to-be..This is the twenty-first century and technology is great so utilize the free websites that are out here. Sites like and offer free personalized wedding websites for couples. Not only can couples share the details of how they met, information on the wedding party and more, but they can also provide wedding day details. Posting this information on a free website can cut back on the invitation printing costs. With that being said, brides can get their dream invitations without breaking the bank. Skip printing information on accommodations and directions in the invitations and post it online--for free!

Simply Peaceful: Your Outdoor Wedding

Outdoor weddings can be romantic and beautiful. There is nothing quite like having a wedding at home, especially if it is your childhood home.  In fact, many brides find it very sentimental and a special place to host their wedding festivities. Planning a wedding at your house is a big undertaking, and there are many extra details which must be considered.
  • Wedding insurance is a wise investment, and it covers things which would not be covered by a homeowner’s policy, such as if the wedding has to be rescheduled due to severe weather or if a vendor does not show up.

  • Consider hiring a shuttle bus to transport your guests from their hotel to your home and back again at the end of the night if parking is limited.

  • Check with your local police department about the noise ordinances in your town to find out what restrictions exist regarding both volume of music and what time music must end at night.

  • You may feel absolutely comfortable with all of your wedding guests, but big parties can be targets for professional thieves. A couple of security guards can be discreetly stationed around the property to keep the house safe from thieves, and the reception free from wedding crashers, if that is a concern.
