Move over Orchard - Marsala is making it's grand entrance. The newly announced 2015 color of the year is marsala, “a naturally robust and earthy wine red” that’s “subtly seductive,” according to the folks at Pantone.

Marsala has a soft almost velvety look to it, much like the blush you get on the grape and is easy to add as an accent color to spice up a neutral palette.

Fun Friday Find: Out with the Old OR Bring In New!!

The featured color (purple) for February was indeed my favorite and next week I will go into detail about the color for March but right now I'm loving the combination of both. What a great way to end February and start March than with this cool combination.

I truly love this combination because it is so stunning to the eye.  It reminds me of a tropical paradise; a color palette that blends the traditional (deep purple) with contemporary (aqua). 

Whether you are poolside, having an outside soiree, or at a local indoor venue; this combination is cool, hip, elegant and stunning. When planning, consider purple and aqua up-lighting with modular white furniture, a signature cocktail in either color and hanging paper lanterns for a perfect atmosphere.

 

There would be a lot of options for flowers but I think that Hydrangeas would be the most sensible. You can find the blue/purple and cream hues in them already. Of course, there are other flowers, such as delphinium and roses that could work too!

My all time favorite color to discuss is the zodiac stone for the constellation of Pisces.  Spirituality, wisdom, sobriety and security; the color of royalty!  What is the Color/Birthstone for February? PURPLE (Amethyst)!

The American Gem Stone Society states "the gemstone believed by ancient Greeks and Romans to ward off the intoxicating powers of Bacchus, also is said to keep the wearer clear-head and quick-witted."  A PURPLE beauty blended of violet and red that can easily be found in every corner of the earth.

WEDnesday Love: January ~ COLOR Me Red!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! This first WEDnesday of the month is dedicated to the color RED.  Although February is the month of love and usually tied to red roses, haute red shoes and more; RED is actually the birthstone of January.

GARNETS are the modern birthstone for January. They are the Zodiac birthstones for Aquarius, and an alternate for Capricorn. Garnets are given on the 2nd and 6th anniversary. Garnets are associated with strength, prosperity, and health.

NOTE:  Although most garnets are red in color, leading many to believe that all are when in fact a few varieties, such as grossular, can have a wide range of colors, and uvarovite is always a bright green.

Color by Color 2012 - Part IV

Part four of Color by Color 2012 is about as pretty as they come! This color has always been one of my favorites and this year it's making quite a comeback.

Sweet Lilac, which is in the purple color family and probably why I love it, is a beautiful and breathtaking color when used in weddings. I love everything about this “sweet” color and can’t wait to see it being used more!!

Color by Color 2012 - Part III

It's another #WeddingWednesday and today we're going to touch on a color that is suppose to be super HOT for 2012.  Cockatoo, which to me, closely resembles Tiffany Blue could easily stand alone but I would love to see it paired with a blush, hot pink or tangerine!! Here are some of my favorite examples of how you can apply this color to your wedding!

Color by Color 2012 - Part 2

Happy Wedding Wednesday!  Last week we took at look at Solar Power (yellow) and Sodalite (blue) which were two really powerful combinations.  Today, however, we are going to look at two new different looks for 2012. 

This color "pink" has been hot and cold over the years but has recently become one of the hottest when it comes to fashion and design so let's dig into it further and see how you can incorporate it into your design elements.

There are a few reasons that pink is so standard for weddings. The biggest one is that it is a very effeminate color, and always so pretty. Another nice thing in regards to pink is that it is flattering to almost each skin tone, not similar to colors such as green or yellow.
