Wedding Wednesday: Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving is tomorrow and for some its a great season for a wedding.  While it may be a time for family to celebrate love; hosting a wedding over Thanksgiving has it's pros and cons.

Although your family may already be traveling and have time off work after Thanksgiving and of course your theme is relatively simply; Thanksgiving is also one of the busiest times for travel and therefore flights may be a little more costly and venues difficult to book.  Unless you live in a warm climate, the weather during November is very unpredictable.

Choose a color scheme with browns, oranges, yellows and even reds for that deep earthy touch.  If you haven't had enough traditional Thanksgiving food, incorporate some of them info your meal such as squash, mashed potatoes, turkey and pumpkin.  Being a fan of signature drinks, create a delicious drink using apple cider, cranberry, pear and berry cocktails.

Enjoy this season of Harvest!

Wedding Wednesday: THE Bachelorette Party!

Unlike the "Bridal Shower" which is often mild in demeanor and hosted by the mom; the Bachelorette Party is typically put together by the bridesmaids or that college girlfriend.  This is a great opportunity for the bride to take a much needed break from wedding planning and enjoy her friends.

When setting the date, take into consideration all that has to be done leading up to the wedding for both the bride and her bridesmaids.  Be sure to send your invitations in enough time for guests to RSVP and add to their personal calendars.

Many of us have been in a position of "whooooaaaaa" and asked what is TOO wild?  My short answer is, if the bride experiences more than temporary embarrassment then you might want to scale it down a bit.  Considering you probably don't want to put your friends in a position of being offensive and lessening the "fun" factor ask the bride to be real clear on what a night of fun is to her.  If she isn't a whipped cream and g-string flinging girl, I'd suggest you  pass on the strippers

Always use good judgment and be sure to have a way of escape for the lovely bride.  Last but not least NEVER videotape.. lol  Be considerate of your friends personality and don't push the envelope too much.

As the organizer of what is suppose to be the last night of fun, you are responsible for the bride's comfort and safety on her big night out. This becomes especially important when the bride's alcohol levels lead her to get a little out of control.

Enjoy!

Wedding Motivational Monday: Fighting It Out!

What does marriage mean to you?  Not the ceremony but the actual life commitment! "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh."

By divine design we are made for each other.  It is not by accident that God took a part of man and tailor-made woman just for him.  When you think about your marriage, forget what the statistics say or how politicians have made it easier to get a divorce.  Know that wherever you go in this world today, whatever continent, whatever nation, you will find that men and women are joined together in the bonds of matrimony and are rearing families.

No one ever said MARRIAGE would be easy! One of the worst laws that could have ever been passed was the "no-fault" divorce.  Now people can throw in the towel for reasons as simple as "we just don't love each other any more" OR even worse, "I'm just not happy".  People treat marriage like the latest fad diet... I'll try it for a while then if it doesn't work right away I'll try something else.  Where is the work that our parents committed to?

Shaye, a nickname given to her by her mother began learning the industry from her father, John Bond who was a caterer and the owner of Bond’s Catering Service and John’s Buffet. She coordinated and produced her first event in 1997 and catered her first event in 2000. Since then, Sharon has coordinated wedding ceremonies, receptions, birthday parties, bridal showers, corporate events and much more.  Located in Baltimore, MD, Sharon is the wife of one, and the mother of two beautiful children, Tamara and Calvin."

Fight for your MARRIAGE - it is vitally important. It was obviously felt to be so by God, who made it the first institution He created, and that with His own hands.

Wedding Wednesday: Not Your Ordinary Furniture

As you are planning your 2013/2014 wedding -  kick it up a notch on your special day by having a more lounge, night club-style atmosphere at your wedding!  By adding some cool lounge furniture to your reception you'll be able to use the area for both the cocktail hour and later in the evening for your guests to relax as they dance the night away.

Don't worry about digging through your aunts basement, rental companies provide some sleek pieces of furniture for weddings.

After months of planning and being around a lot of people; a sweatheart table at your reception is a great way to enjoy your guests AND share some special moments with your sweetheart!  If you're afraid you'll miss something, the small table is typically set up facing your guests near your wedding party and family.
