Wedding Motivational Monday: "This Will Be"

One of my FAVORITE songs is by Natalie Cole, "This Will Be".  Why are some couples happier than others?  How is it that some last decades and some can't make it past dinner?  What is the “secret” for a great relationship? With certain couples it is clear there is something about the way they interact that makes it obvious they have a unique and genuine connection.

I'm convinced that people in great relationships live by a few basic rules and they make these rules a priority in their day-to-day lives together. Consider these habits that can help you create a strong, nurturing relationship.
  • Have realistic expectations
  • Willingness to work and be thoughtful every day
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to turn negatives into positives

Wedding Wednesday: HELP-What to do about late rsvp's?!

Happy Wedding ETIQUETTE Wednesday!!! You've received an invitation and you have YET to respond; consider yourself inconsiderate and on the top of my "poor guest etiquette" list.

All over the WORLD couples approach their catering/venue deadline and I can guarantee you that they have a few people that haven't sent in their RSVP!  "What in the same hill is wrong with people?" you may be asking yourself.  You've followed all the rules by sending the Save the Date six months ago and the invitation went out right on schedule at 6-8 weeks before your wedding.  Now here you are still waiting and wondering what to do..."PICK UP THE PHONE!"

It is completely acceptable to call and politely ask each LATE guest for a reply: “We hope you have received the invitation to Mia and Demetrius' wedding on September 1st and that you can join us.” If by chance you get the answering machine, add a time by which you’d like to hear back.  NOTE:  Keep the "I can't believe they haven't responded" for your fiance' ears :)

If you are an expected guest, please take the time to RSVP (please respond).  It’s only a matter of simply checking a box on a reply card, clicking on an e-mail address or making a phone call. As a guest, this is the most important obligation you have to the host of the event. It is poor etiquette and frankly disrespectful and rude to wait until the day of the event and just show up!

BTW -  It is just as inappropriate to RSVP acceptance and then fail to attend.  Only a matter of serious illness or death should keep you away. Whether you accept or regret – respond.

Until Later~

Wedding Motivational Monday: Love The One You're With!

So Jennifer Anniston got engaged; Evelyn got head butted and Will and Jada were on the front page of MSN for long lasting couples.  What really makes a marriage work?  There is no simple answer because marriage is indeed complex!

Friends and Lovers!  Evenutually the kids will grow up and hopefully move out so it's very important to enjoy each other's company.  Laugh, PRAY, touch, have sex.. yes! have sex people.  Make your marriage fun and lively.

Be Willing To Adapt to Change! You can't be so stuck in your ways that you aren't willing to make some changes when necessary.  Not saying lose yourself but my goodness...Keep adapting to make the marriage work. Success in marriage is more than finding the right person: it is a matter of being the right person. Be open to change and growth.

Choose Your Battles!  So he missed the bag of garbage; so what she didn't wash the dishes.  Quit all the nagging and complaining about things that really dont matter.  In relationships, it is vital that we give respect and reverence. In marriage, it’s a must.

Forever? For Ever Ever?  Forever is a long time. Treat each other with kindness, encouragement, and challenge. Marriage is the commitment of two people as total persons.

Trust!   No trust, no intimacy. Take some time away from the hustle and communicate.  There are 168 hours and 10,080 minutes each week. The average couple only spends 17 minutes per week in conversation. *-*

Dependency!  Men need to be needed... and Women need to need them!  Marriage is a balance of dependencies. Doesn't mean "needy" and yes there is a difference.  Let him fix the plumbing ladies and guys let her expect you to do it.  If we can't lean and depend on each other then what's the point.  We need to be a mixture of dependent, independent, and interdependent.

Memories!  When it's all said and done be sure to create lasting memories.

Do not marry someone you can live with. Marry someone you cannot live without.  You are made to love and to be loved.  Someone said "if you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with" HECK NO... life is short so get the one you love and love them without end!

Favorite Friday Finds: Proper Place Settings

Facebook and Pinterest are excellent ways to keep up with friends, find fabulous recipes and craft ideas.  I've learned that many people are confused when it comes to how to set a place setting at a dinner table.

Knowing how to properly set a table is information that IMO everyone should know. Learning place setting etiquette will not only help you host a successful dinner party, but it will also give you confidence in social situations because you always know which fork to use and other similar etiquette.

Wedding Motivational Monday: It's A Journey, not a TRIP!

Marriage certainly can be a trip.  However, it also can be a beautiful journey in which two individuals promise to be there for each other in all walks of life.  On this steering wheel of life two very different souls always have to give their support, concern and trust to bring beauty, charm and smoothness in their relationship.

In this journey of growth and love, nothing is about ‘you’ or ‘me’; everything is about ‘we’. Success can be of one, but celebration is for both. Problems can be of one, but the solution will have to be by both. This is the beauty of this relationship that’s supposed to be maintained by mutual efforts of both.

All important decisions are to be taken mutually because each and every decision will influence both the lives equally. The most significant thing which a couple should take into account is the togetherness and the compatibility, which both of them share. This compatibility will help them to remove all the obstacles in their life and live it in a smoother & loving manner.

"Love Without End"
